A Little Birdie Told Me

bird1I follow a Demonstrator in Germany named Sigrid and she doodles. I followed her idea for using the solid stamp in the Painted Poppies set as a base for this little guy.

I cut Blueberry Bushel cardstock to 4-1/4″x11″ and scored it at 3-1/4″ and 8-1/2″. Then the Ornate embossing folder was used on the 3-1/4″ part of the front.

I tied Denim ribbon around the card until I got it tied the way I liked. Mine was 22″. I taped it on the larger side where I wanted it to tie, cut a piece of the Blueberry paper to 3″x4″, and adhered over the tape.

I cut out the largest oval on a piece of scrap Whisper White and the largest scalloped oval die was used on a scrap of Blueberry Bushel to layer behind the white.

I used the solid stamp from the Painted Poppies set with Daffodil Delight ink to make the body. A black line art pen was used to make the squiggly outline, eyes, beak, wings and tails. The eyes were filled in with a white Stampin’ Chalk marker. The wings and feather were filled in with a Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend. The dots were added with Light Rich Razzleberry and Light Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends.

bird3The inside was dark to write on, so I added a piece of 4″x5″ Whisper White to complete the card.
